CSIP and Mental Health Legislation

CSIP have been tasked by the Department of Health with providing support, information and awareness raising for new, far reaching pieces of legislation.

The Mental Health Legislation Lead in the West Midlands is Colin Vines who is supported by Ralph Hall for the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and administrative support with first point of contact from Felicity Love.

A Regional Implementation Group coordinates the work of the overall programme. Local Implementation Networks meet regularly in each locality to discuss issues, gather information, raise awareness and provide a timetable and framework within which this implementation can take place.

Implementation of this legislation is regionalised to provide a single point of contact for the various agencies that the legislation impacts upon.

Each region’s workstream feeds in to a national programme that reports to the Department of Health on a monthly basis. Please follow these links for further details and information on the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Amendments to the Mental Health Act 1983 pages.
